Mar 01 2010 - On Starcraft 2
Since the Starcraft 2 beta NDA was lifted I've been looking at some Starcraft 2 gameplay videos. Since I wanted to watch them quickly and simply I grouped a couple of them on the forums. You might want to skip ahead a bit if you want to see better gameplay. Also, it's not me playing.
Nov 08 2008 - On Fallout 3
People have started discussing running Fallout 3 on old and unsupported hardware in a similar manner as we did for Oblivion. Currently there's some progress but in the end there will probably be a need for some patching of the executable. As we have a good number of people who have experience with this engine in particular and the render path seems to be extremely similar I'll go ahead and link to the forum topic here.

Who knows maybe someone has time to path up this awesome game as well.
Mar 31 2007 - On Shivering Isles and version 1.2
I'm looking at this update and will see if I can get Oldblivion updated to it. I can't give an ETA since I have no idea how long it will take to get update or if it is even possible. I'm on a fairly tight deadline with other projects on my table.
Aug 26 2006 - Documentation Online Again
Thanks to our forum moderator Max we know have the documentation available again. It was removed during the move to a new host because the old system was slow, sluggish and didn't fit in with the theme of the site. This means the developer documentation of shaders is also online again.
Aug 7 2006 - Website overhaul
Thanks to matthewOK we now have a new design. He created the template which Max then chopped into HTML for me to implement into the PHP I already had. I think it looks a lot better and I hope you agree. I will look for something to improve the theme of the forum in order to resemble the theme of the frontpage. Please comment on the design if there is something you feel should be changed.
Jul 31 2006 - Hosting provider change completed
I've completed the move to an alternative host. The wiki is still not available and will not be until I find a better wiki system. This means all documentation other than the forum is currently down. Right now I'm on the lookout for a very simple wiki or some other form of documentation system. Hopefully we will be leaving instability behind us from now on.
Jul 31 2006 - Hosting service facing bankruptcy
The service provider of this page has informed me that they are very likely facing bankruptcy. The issue has arisen because of a dispute between the owners. I have been looking into alternatives since we had the first bouts with downtime but the future as of now is unclear. I have been given one month to resolve the issue but with these kinds of disputes quick action is always important in order to not lose data.

Unfortunately it also looks as if I will lose nine months of prepaid bandwidth.

If someone has experience with a fast host please let me know at asp_at_bluemail.org as the alternative I have set up right now is not good enough for our volume.

Ah well, such is life. I'll get back when I know what the result will be. I will try to make daily backups of all databases to avoid serious data loss.
Jul 22 2006 - Donations reach goal
We have reached our goal of $40. I will order a Radeon 9250 tomorrow. I would like to thank the following people for their contributions:

A Gardiner, Alexander Opoku-Agyemang, Brian Brock, Chris Duke, Cristine Hutchinson, David Fox, David Hooper, Hugh Gilmore, John Ingram, Josh Fishman, Patrick Dann, Rustyn Sa, Stephen Kimberlin, Suyono Zhe Ming Kho and Tim Yarham.
Jul 18 2006 - Radeon 9000 series issues
I've decided to take a look at the Radeon issues by buying a 9200 series Radeon card. If you feel support for that card is important hit the donate button by the menu. Once I have collected $40 I will buy the card. I've frozen it at $2.50 just so that one or two people can't pay it single handedly. I know $40 is virtually nothing but as I see it I'm not in the mood to pay for this as well.

Thank you.
Jun 17 2006 - Oldblivion 0.11t7 Released
Oldblivion 0.11t7 is out. This version has support for the 1.1.511 patch from Bethesda. It also includes support for version 1.0.228 for those who aren't willing or able to upgrade. Another important thing to note is that it now comes bundled as an installer. This bundle contains a simple oblivion.ini file which I tweaked a little today. I'm sure there's more options which can be tweaked further but it gives me decent framerates on my Geforce 3. It also contains the spell fix by tommionu. Both of these bundles should be able to install to the correct location automatically.

I've also tried to reduce the frequency of lighting pass changes in oldblivion with adaptable mode. It will now wait until you've had poor performance for a while until switching passes off.

This release also uses icons from tango. I would like to have more custom icons and sativarg has given me a few. If you're interested please read http://www.oldblivion.com/sm/index.php?topic=1275.0.

The only thing missing right now is probably decent documentation in the form of a .html document and of course all bugs.

May 27 2006 - Oldblivion 0.11t6
A small update of oldblivion is out. The fixed issues are
* Alpha blend LOD water and foliage is now split into two options. Alpha blend LOD water is disabled by default as it screws with some spells.
* Further tweaked presets. It now defaults to high quality presets.
* Ambient pass is now never used when only texture pass is active. This means the game wont turn all dark on low framerates.
* Glowing runes are no longer affected by the ignore glowmaps option. Only flame atronachs and nirnroots have their glowmaps removed.
* Fixed another crash issue. Somewhat untested. Hopefully fixes this issue.

THIS VERSION IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH THE OBLIVION PATCH 1.1.425 BETA OR 1.1.511

May 21 2006 - Oldblivion source code released
I've released the source code of Oldblivion. It's kind of messy but it should be fairly easy to follow. The code is released under the GPL which I promised I wouldn't do since I don't get along with the GPL at all. However, given the licenses I had to choose from I believe it is the best match for what the project is trying to achieve. You may notice that some things aren't included in source code form, that's because I believe that given what is included any modification should be possible. Most noteably the injector component of Oldblivion isn't included simply because it is frozen thanks to auto update which is unable to update that executable.

You can download it here http://www.oldblivion.com/download.php.

Discuss the source code and ask question regarding it here http://www.oldblivion.com/sm/index.php?board=11.0. I'll try to answer.
May 21 2006 - Oldblivion IRC channel and on the future of oldblivion
I've created an IRC channel where people can come and ask question live so to speak. I'm also preparing to move oldblivion over to GPL which means it will be open source. Right now I'm finishing up the documentation of the source and arranging everything. Hopefully we'll see a source code release by tonight.

The IRC channel is on the QuakeNet network and is #oldblivion. You can connect to IRC with mIRC available here http://www.mirc.com/. I'll try to be available but I have no idea how many people will actually be in the channel.
May 7 2006 - Oldblivion 0.11t5
Well I fixed a few issues with the adjustable lighting mode and tweaked the default settings some more after playing the actual game for an hour or so. I've also included more of crazydog's shaders stuff, most notably is probably that LOD terrain should just need a very small vertical bias now, even without all passes forced. I also allow negative values in the configuration tool now, why you would want them is beyond me but whatever floats your boat Wink. I would recommend the normal or high settings unless you already have some settings you really like.

This release is very minor and wouldn't normally be released as a new testing release but I'm taking steps to release few updates per testing release. This means I will be doing testing releases more often. That way I can get feedback quicker and crazydog can get feedback on his shader updates quicker as well.
